A Penny for your thoughts

So I would never call myself a genius, but for the past 15 years I have created a parlay or two for my wife during the bowl games, specifically around new year’s day games to keep her interested. The idea being, if she is interested, I can get drunk and watch all the games on TV. A few years back I did a five team parlay for her that came down to the last game but we lost.

This year we were up at Tahoe playing cards so I invited her over to the sports book. 2007 was a great year, finacially, for Money so I offered to pay for Penny’s parlay this year. I generously donated 10 dollars for this ingenious method to watch football during the bowl season.

This parlay covered a couple of days and it does go according to plan. I got Penny to watch the first game Auburn/Clemson while we were out with some friends.

“Honey, your first game is on TV. Stop talking to your friends and watch the game.”

New Year’s day was a success, hitting all four games. I think I drank 4-5 bloody maries, 14 Coors lights and embarked on a sledding trip taking roughly 12 kids down the “Hill of destruction.”

Jan 2 is where things get dicey. I did not give West Va much of a chance, but because the entire betting community was on Oklahoma, I liked her chances, but did feel this is where she was going to fall. Needless to say, after the West Va game, I liked Penny’s chances, but was beginning to look ahead and think of Wrigley’s perils last year documented on the TRUTH.

Kansas won and covered last night and Penny was up and pacing around the entire evening. 7 for 7 with one left. It is hedge time now, one would assume, but I would love your thoughts.

Here is Penny’s parlay. It should be noted, these were all her picks. She did get one break, because initially her parlay included Arkansas, but that game was off the board when it was thought that McFadden may not play.

Congratulations Penny. You have made Money quite proud. For my portion, I would like to purchase the “Man groomer” from Bed, Bath and Beyond.

550 on Rutgers and just hope the parlay comes. If she happens to miss ball State, you still win 490 on a 10 dollar bet, but if she gets the parlay right, you get 1520. win, Win!

great job Penny

If Memphis was -58, B Anthony would still take them. You should really get back to unpacking your Dorsey blow-up dolls!
Love the anti-Bay Area picks today. UCLA will expose Cal for the 8th place team that they will be. The Dorks can't compete with ballers like Mayo. They'll foul out again.

Clemson will knock off UNC today and Memphis will #1 for the remainder of the Year!

Just in case anyone was wondering, Penny hedged her bet and "opted out" betting half of her winnings on Rutgers, which turned out to be the right thing to do.
